The Handicrafts Association of Bhutan (HAB) recently held a two-week advanced training course on the design and product development of bamboo handicrafts in Marangdute, Panbang, Zhemgang. The aim of the training was to build the design thinking skills of rural artisans and increase the diversity of bamboo handicraft products in the market, ultimately leading to increased income for the artisans.
The training was made possible through the support of SFED & SGP, GEF, UNDP Bhutan, and was organized and coordinated by HAB. With a focus on hands-on learning, the training offered practical and theoretical knowledge to the participants, helping them develop their skills and expand their product offerings. The participants were introduced to the latest techniques and trends in bamboo product design and development, with a focus on creating innovative and unique products that stand out in the market.
