One of the Bhutan’s earliest craftsman and artist is the legendary Pema Lingpa, a blacksmith by profession in the 15th century. Pema lingpa’s swords are national legacies and have inspired a generation of blacksmiths who continue to fashion long awards and a variety of knives that are used in daily farm life.
One of Bhutan’s best-known bridge builders, Thangtong Gyalpo, lived in the 14th century. He is worshipped for his skills with the heavy metal. Today, master blacksmiths continue to fashion swords and tools using age-old methods.
